Reference to a very old TV-show called The People. Someone is sent off to teach in a remote village. He notices everyone is dragging their feet. It turned out they all thought the were aliens, and that if their feet left the grown, they'd float back to outer space, back to where they came from. Sure enough, at the end, little children let their feet off the grown and start floating away in the sky.
